Great sound….. the clarity of this unit is amazing especially when used with yamaha speakers.. only reason i bought it was to replace the same unit that i had bought several years ago with the whole speaker system when the receiver ” accidentally ” got sprayed with water while hosing off the porch.. the unit was fine before than . This system has alot more refinement in the high frequency range as opposed to other surround sound systems that are more aimed to midrange and bass.. i have been pleased with it and it is why i purchased another receiver to replace the water soaked damaged one i had

Replaced a 25-year old Denon Home theater center that gave up the ghost with this. I kept my 5.1 Klipsch sub and speakers, and I was worried it wouldn’t sound as good. This has great power, sound profiles, and it’s easy to set-up and configure. It even comes with a device to measure your room sound dynamics and tweak the installation.

It was exactly what I needed for the room that I was using it for. Very great buy, and I am glad that I purchased it when I did and got it for a great price. I’m very happy with this rx385 plenty of power I use klipsch RX4 on front pair and a JBLsub. This amp is so turnable I am amazed at the moder n electronics all the low frequency you could want my front pair of speakers play bass heavy anyways it will play the high frequencies plenty strong if you turn it that way not my preference overall you can’t go wrong for the price I paid

Lots of ports, easy to use. Bought banana clips for speaker wires. Pleased with its appearance. It was around 7″ tall which is higher than other brands like Sony so unfortunately it would not fit on our media stand shelf so we had to remove a drawer to use that as a shelf.
Our Yamaha AV theatre receiver we bought in 2013 at our other home was a more expensive model and has not caused a single problem so we trust this brand. We are using this one with a Hisense ultra short throw projector and CLR 135″ screen. And there were double cube Bose speakers already on the walls so we kept them and the Yamaha drives them fine (I read a review to be sure they could be paired with the Yamaha). Bose would not have been my choice in speakers but they came with the house and seem OK in our huge room with up to 30 foot ceilings and do not take up space on the floor. We discarded the old Bose Lifestyle components and replaced them with this Yamaha, a Polk audio subwoofer and use a fire stick to stream at the projector. I had to rewire the Bose speakers using 16 guage speaker wire and banana plugs (Bose has annoying odd wiring systems to be proprietary instead of standard.)

This is a 5.1 channel surround sound receiver which means it is for a max of five speakers and a subwoofer. I use it for my bedroom/studio apartment and it’s more than enough. Yamaha is a trusted brand for sound and all my speakers are Bose so it’s good combo. If you want to power a full home theater center in your home I recommend going for the 7.1 channel.
Everything on the receiver is labeled very clearly so you don’t have to be too knowledgeable about cables to be able to connect your speakers. The interface is simple enough as well. The best part is how simple it is to switch between inputs. The switch buttons are just as big as the volume control on the remote.
I am happy with my purchase.
